Unisinos signs cooperation agreement with ECNU

Last week, May 2019, the Dean of Unisinos University, Fr. Marcelo Fernandes de Aquino; the director of the Operations and Services Unit, Cristiano Richter; and the director of Tecnosinos, Susana Kakuta, embarked for China and Korea.

In China, the Unisinos delegation participated in the Shanghai Forum 2019. Event held by the Fudan Development Institute (FDDI), co-sponsored by Fudan University and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS). The Forum aimed to build an interactive platform for multilateral communication between academic, political, commercial, and press circles, through which significant problems in Asia and the world are going to be discussed in a comprehensive and in-depth way, in order to seek consensus on economic, political and social aspects in Asia.

This year the event had the theme “Asia in the midst of global remodeling: challenges, developments, and new paradigms” and featured four panels, “New technology: innovation and social development”, “New order: Global Uncertainty and World Restructuring”, “New Height: Shanghai towards an excellent global city” and “New era: China in a new round of reform and opening up”, with a total of 30 round tables.

The Shanghai Forum 2019 brought together more than 700 guests and representatives from think tanks, universities, governments, companies, media, among other national and international institutions. “The Forum was very good. A topic that went through in a very subtle but effective way was the theme of civilization. It is a great debate about what we are understanding as a contemporary civilization ”, said Fr. Marcelo.

In Shanghai, the Dean of Unisinos and the Vice President of East China Normal University, Mei Bing, signed a cooperation agreement between Unisinos and the East China Normal University, which covers several areas of knowledge. The exchange of teachers and students was also on the agenda.

At the opening of the meeting, on the North Zhongshan Road campus, Mei summarized the evolution and highlights of ECNU (listed in the “211”, “985”, and “Double First-class” projects), as well as the university’s efforts to promote its internationalization. Fr. Marcelo highlighted the University’s focus on development and innovation, topics of great interest for relations between Brazil and China.

“We have many options to be able to develop actions in partnership in the field of international relations and in the field of education. I think it is interesting to have a focus as this whole theme of education is being designed here in Asia ”, said the rector.
